My late father worked for the Tidewater Oil Company in the 1930’s and used to change the oil of the four Hindenburg engines in Lakehurst, NJ. He was friendly with crew members and was given this photograph of an iceberg that was taken during a transatlantic voyage of the Hindenburg in 1936. I believe that is my father’s handwriting on the back of the photo. He misspelled Walter Banholzer’s last name as well as Hindenburg. Banholzer was one of the Hindenburg mechanics and died at the Naval hospital shortly after the disaster.
