Here's my final post for today of another fun vintage brooch that I love to wear, but again know nothing about! This gold-tone brooch is made up of three parts: a starburst centre, set on top of a lovely thick faceted star, which is then set on a wider lattice-work outer star.
It is quite a chunky brooch - 2 1/2 inches wide x 1/2 an inch thick. Where it looks a bit silver on some of the outer edges is just due to the camera flash as it's in beautiful condition.
The only makers mark I can see is a small 'c' in a circle on the back of the piece, which doesn't help me a lot! Maybe someone has some more ideas about the history behind this brooch? Thank you for looking :)
Very pretty brooch, the center looks like a snowflake. Nice post!
Thanks Jenni!
Thank you Ken for your suggestion. I don't have a magnifying glass, so there may possibly be a mark I can't see. I tried a reverse image search and looked through hundreds of other examples, but couldn't find this particular brooch. All I could find out was that "Most costume jewelry having the copyright mark was made after 1955". Guess I may never know what maker it's from, but that's ok :)
Thank you Eileen :) I did think it was strange I couldn't see a makers mark, just a copyright symbol, but it was at an op shop and they really didn't know anything about it other than it came from a local estate. All I knew was that I liked it and thought I would wear it :D I had hoped I would be able to find out more from searching the internet when I got it home, but no luck unfortunately.
Thank you for the love Tigra, Ken , aura, valentino97, Jenni, Eileen, Hel1, & fortapache :D
Sorry I don't know everyone's names yet, or if you prefer your screen name or first name. I'm Kerri :)
'Dante Dreaming' came from my rescue greyhound Dante, who loves to sleep sideways across my entire couch and is always waging his tail and pumping his legs about whilst he's 'dreaming' in his sleep. So funny to watch! Maybe he's racing in his sleep or chasing mechanical rabbits...
Thank you for the love Trey :)
Thank you for the love Karen :)
The sharp detail is the winner here, superb detail !~
