I love Paraiba Tourmaline! The Brazilian Paraiba Tourmaline was first introduced to the gemstone world at the annual Tucson gem show in early 1990. It caused an immediate sensation. Top specimens sold for as much as $3,000 per carat. At the time this price seemed ridiculously high for a tourmaline; today, ironically, it seems astonishingly low. Then in 2001, another pocket of Paraiba turned up in Nigeria and again in Mozambique. The gemstones mined from Mozambique resemble the color saturation of Brazil's Paraibas, and they are cleaner too, with less inclusions. It is Copper within the gemstones that makes them "glow", and this Paraiba gemstone certainly does that!
This gemstone is from Mozambique, like my other Paraiba gemstones. They are all set in 18kt yellow and white gold, this one of course is set in yellow gold. The gold weight is just over 3 grams, I like this one because the setting is simple but the gemstone pops out with that "wow" factor too. The gemstone is Emerald cut in a 8x6 size and weighs 1.28cts. It is very clear with one tiny eye visible inclusion in the center of the gemstone, and there are two 1.5mm round cut Diamonds channel set on either side. I wear this ring a lot, it looks so nice in the sunlight and it seems like the longer this gemstone is in the natural lighting during the day.....the more it glows. I have had this for almost 13 years now, it is nice to show it off here.
I love this ring. Simple and spectacular with a green neon punch :)
What a gorgeous ring, the tourmaline is a beautiful color & emerald shape
Simply beautiful. Love everything about this ring - the cut and colour are just stunning.
Lovely! I would be wearing it too:-)
Thanks guys!! I am glad you like this as much as I do :)
