I believe this sterling silver 14K Gold inlaid cigarette case dates back to the 1920’s or 1930’s. This is well made but the manufacturer’s name is missing; the only markings pertain to gold and silver content and are highlighted in one of the photos. Not sure what the 168 stands for.
Watrous Mfg. Co. ~ Wallingford, Connecticut. 1896 - present. Maybe they can tell you about the significance of the number ???

Surprised they chose not to mark their product. I’ll do some research and see if I can get additional information from the company.
That CW is their mark.

It makes sense that the manufacturer of this case would want to identify it as one of their products. I overlooked the CW. Perhaps the 168 refers 5o the model of this particular case.
