My late uncle served as the Bloomingdale Elementary School janitor, Bloomingdale, NJ. He hand wound this Waterbury Clock Company Regulator school calendar clock for 20 years. I believe the town decided to replace this clock with an electric one in the 1940s. The town then allowed my Uncle to purchase this clock for 50 cents. I’ve had it serviced twice since the 1980s and it keeps excellent time. A clock smith told me that a clock marked “regulator” meant that it was accurate and suitable as a reference when folks adjusted their watches or other timepieces.
Nice clock with a family memory attached. Best type of collectible to have IMO. Thank you for sharing :)
Agree- Thank you bucket head.
Now that's a clock -- and a great piece of family history. Print this page out and tape it to the back for future reference of its next owner.
Thanks for the comments and tip!
