Hi Caperkid I found them, nearly ended in Divorce as I thought the wife had thrown them ha ha. Well, this rod is made by Hardy but not sure of its type or whether it's very rare. It was used for fly fishing on the Chew Valley lakes near Bristol England.

I think Hardy may have bought Anderson and Sons. Nice rod and you should probably take her out for dinner tonight. Lol

There is a chart online that will tell the year it was made by the serial number. Some of their rods go for thousands while other newer ones go for under $100.

Thanks fhrjr2 yes this does have a serial number it is C 18839. I've looked at the date chart and all I can ascertain is that it was possibly made in 1922.
None of the numbers seem to match. Any ideas on who to contact and not having to register with any of the forums ? Neil

Neil Right off hand I can't suggest a site for research but I know there are collector clubs for such things online and on Facebook that can be joined for free and have blogs where you can ask questions. Years ago I collected Orvis fly rods and in the process of researching serial numbers I came across some useful collector clubs. I collected Orvis because some 60 years ago I worked for them as they are in my home town. I've given them all away now.
