    (3 items)

Found in my late dads garage.
Did not realize it was a flashlight for months!
    No makers mark.
I wonder what it’s real use was w clip or where he got it.
Thought military, but couldn’t find anything like it?
    Any thoughts ya’ll?
    Thanks in advance!

What does the 'clip' part look like, can you tell what its center section is made of, and by any chance was your Dad a machinist or electrician in some capacity??

FWIW (maybe nothing at all?!) this looks to me like it could have been a "project" piece, very nicely home-shop-made by somesuch a skilled craftsman, created from a large electrical cartridge fuse and a brass plumbing nipple. (+ a few other bits) If so, it looks like your Dad had some "mad skillz" indeed?!! <applause>

I loaded another pic. The center part once I really looked
+ felt it seems may e like a heavy paper type tube.
My dad was from MI + worked at GM doing tool + die.
He was a great fabricator, we thought maybe he made, but
Thought maybe someone out there would know more than
His daughters! Wish we knew if he made or picked up at a flea market.
      Thanks so much!

To add to that which Anything Obscure said, the 'clip' looks like a copper water line to a refrigerator.

Thanks for the extra pic TNflowergirl -- it looks *exactly* like I was guessing it might?! :-) [SB...I bet the clip is of brass brazing rod, instead?] I'll further guess there might be a shallow slot across the flat end (for no apparent reason) which itself probably unscrews and then has some sort of spring inside it, holding a couple of AA (?) batteries together against the bottom of a flashlight bulb somehow fixed into the inside of its other 'pointy' end. The 'heavy fiberboard' (maybe ceramic?) material would also be exactly correct for what large cartridge fuses are commonly made from.

I'm thinking if I was you, I'd be sorta treasuring this little thing, as a handcrafted item your Dad made. (and whether it can ever be proven for certain or not...who cares, anyway?!) <applause>

For the record -- THANKS ALSO for posting this just because I would have never thought of such a thing...now that I've seen it, I wanna think about making one of my own??!! <LOLOL> :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
