This was found buried in the sand at a Mexican beach in the 70's, as it looks like it was buried for many years in damp ground. The blade is severely pitted and was completely rusted when i got it. I added wd-40 to the blade to remove the rust. It was my 1st time dealing with something like that and I knew not to use anything abrasive.
Has bone inlay in the handle. The blade was significantly longer but years of sharpening has wore it down. Not sure if the sheath is original but thats what came with it .
A piece like this has almost no value but I love the history and that means a lot to me.
Nice Find! I agree with you 100% about the history. being the most valuable part of the find for me as well. If it has no marks, your going to have to do a visual I.D on it. You may consider putting it on one of the knife forums, if it cannot be solved here.
Good Luck!
Thanks Izenglish! It has "Made in Mexico" on the butt of the handle and with that and the style of knife I was able to find info on it
Love the bird in the tip of the handle.
Thanks Lata, me too
