I found this in an English antique store, but even after searching for 10 years, I still can't find what it was used for. It is 23 cm high x 21 cm wide at the handles x 18 cm diameter. I saw a smaller one once in a flea market, but was told it was for herbal teas....which doesn't seem right as the drainage holes are so large. I thought a cheese safe, a bread proofing jar, or some strange way to fill with hot water and keep potatos warm at the table.....but I don't really think so.

Does anyone have other ideas? It has no marks on it to indicate the maker, and I can't find it with an image search.
    Thanks in advance!

Same train of thought here. Steamer or warmer.

Does the top pot come off the bottom? Is there room for a can of Sterno in the bottom?

There are no other parts missing and the top and bottom of the jar does not separate. Ther is room for a can of sterno, but this piece pre-dates sterno. It does not appear to have been used in an oven, the finish is pristine, no crackling of the glaze. Thanks for the suggestions! I am still searching...........
