This flaring quadrilateral bowl was designed in 1947 so is either the last breath of Czech Art Deco or the advance guard of Sklo Union pressed glass design! You choose..... Though from some angles the bowl seems to be in pale blue glass with darker blue lines that is an optical illusion of the horizontal ribbing.
At the rim 25cm.x25cm. Height 7 cm.
Another one on the cusp of design eras as you say. I can't fault the Czechs with this era moulded glass, it was so good.
Good indeed, Karen. and they had so little to work with.
So surprising that simple horizontal ribbing, which takes away from the thickness of the wall of the bowl, should result in an effect of darker blue lines!
Your photos are great. They really show that.
Photo corner is now into its sixth incarnation.....best so far. Now I'm just waiting to see what it will be like on a sunny day.
It's quite difficult to bring out its beauty,I think, but your photos do.
These three have been difficult to photograph at all. However I'm learning, little by little, how the various functions of the photo programme can help me. So this novice thanks you :)
