As a big fan of the wheelstanders I have been wanting to get one of these for a bit. Found one at a Mall at Orange Circle saving me a bit on shipping from eBay. I believe this model is the 1967 version. The name comes from mid engine mount being under the large glass window. They would make a version of the car for every year model from 1965-1975. Often the previous one would be stripped and converted. The 1968 version still exists unless it has crashed recently. These things crash a lot as they drive over 100 mph with the steering wheels up in the air.
In the last photo is the 1992 version of the 1967 Hemi Under Glass photo taken by me. I went back to the Wally Parks museum but the Hemi Under Glass was absent.
The model comes with a little stand to simulate it doing a wheelie.
Oops a little more history here. The Hemi Under Glass was originally designed as a class that would eventually become Funny Cars. But due to the mid engine mount it would do wheelie as many dragsters do but it did it a bit too much. So it became a wheelstander. Wheelstanders keep the front wheels up in the air for the entire quarter mile. Except for the Backup Pickup which kept its back wheels up.
