    Cookie cutter punch? It looks like it was punched a bit to hard like a cookie cutter. The d on the front dents in too. Yes I noticed the erosion . Thinking it's from being punched too hard exposing the zinc . Thoughts?

      It usually doesn’t work that way. The black color shows the zinc probably reacted with an acid. Dissolved, it leaves pockets under the copper plate, which is easily dented, pushing the mint mark into a void makes it look like an error, when it’s not.
