I was hoping someone could tell me about this doll I found? It says that it has real hair for eyebrows and the legs and body are moveable and the body is made of leather one arm is lost the other is intact but needs repair. On her body the date says 1901.
Your doll was made by Armand Marseille co in Germany . She was named Floradora ' These dolls were sometimes made with painted eyebrows or the inset type with real hair like yours. She is called a shoulder head bisque doll on a kid leather body . She has a replaced wig as she would have had a mohair wig or human hair . They are fairly common dolls to find in today's market as they were produced over a long period of time . Armand was not known for real high quality bisque dolls but did make a few with character faces that are sought after . Your doll has what is called a dolly face . She is in newer clothes also .
This company did not make doll bodies only heads and bought bodies from other companies . The Dep stamped her just means she is a registered doll to protect copying kind of like a patent . Dates from 1900-1930's
I did also want to mention they made Floradora doll heads called socket head ,which means there was no shoulder on head and these heads went on a jointed composition body that could be posed and are more sought after bodies than kid leather for display purposes :-)
