Hello again
Bought the locket in 2007 then the locket collar in 2008, both from Ebay Aus from memory........was nice to be able to put them together!
The Collar of course is not hallmarked, but the locket is marked for 1881 I think!
It is very pretty and did not come with photos inside so I put a picture of my Dad & Mum from when they were courting in it.....Mum would have loved that:-)
Hope you enjoy seeing these, thanks Judy
What a beautiful floral pattern!
You have such beautiful sterling jewelry Judy, this precious locket must look great with the earrings posted earlier - and I love that locket pic of your parents, a very happy moment & thanx for sharing
Very beautiful Judy, the picture is perfect for it and precious !~
Another little beauty!! Nice one Judy!!
It is beautiful BTLENS isn't it, thanks very much:-)
Thanks Mary for your lovely comment, much appreciated :-)
Thank very much Jenni and yes I think they go together really well! Hard to believe that I was never a silver person......if I couldn't afford gold I would go without rather than buy silver!! All that changed when I discovered Antique & Vintage jewellery was there to be bought, and now I can't get enough of either lol:-) )
Thanks Phil, came across the picture in mum's things and thought it was just so great, they must have just been on Dad's motorcycle as he still has his scarf on and Mum has her long hair tied up. Would date in the late 40s I think.
Many thanks Scott! Great to have you pop in:-) )
Thanks Eileen, glad you like it and thanks for the lovely comment on the picture:-) Dad was quite handsome and typically blond hair blue eyes tanned from the beach, loved surfing, played Australian Rules Football till he was 36....he loved to be fit.....and then he was dead at 40 from cancer when I was 16, leaving poor Mum with 6 children aged 17 down to 4years old.......a difficult time......but enough of that.....it is a wonderful picture when they were young and carefree:-)
Many thanks for the love Caperkid, Aura, BTLENS, Gillian, Manikin, Jenni, Ken, Hel1, Mary, Vetraio, Scott, Fortapache, VintageMisc, Eileen and Inky:-)
Always appreciate the love Buckethead, thank you:-)
Aww Judy... So sad to loss such a loving gorgeous husband and father so young...
The locket and its chain are the perfect keepsake for your parents memory of happy times.
Appreciate your kind comment Pascale thank you:-)
We were lucky in the early years to buy nice pieces of silver for reasonable prices......couldn't afford them now!
Appreciate the love Karen, Pascale and Mike, thank you:-)
Your dad was movie star handsome Judy, he looked like a happy man so that's a comfort at least. I was 16 too when my youngest brother passed, it's very traumatizing at that age but all experiences form us, you know? Anyway your locket is a lovely remembrance - J.
Thank you Jenni for the kind comment, all my high school friends thought he was too, and even the nuns would blush when he came to pick my sister and I up from school and we were allowed to go home early!!
So sorry for the loss of your brother, that would have been really sad for you and your parents. My Mum always said that no parent should ever have to bury their children, she never recovered when my younger sister passed away unexpectedly aged34.....but you are right.....these experiences do keep shaping our lives for better or worse, depends on us I guess, but while we might not dwell on these sad times we do not forget either. Thanks Jenni, sorry for rambling on a bit..........
And I am still waiting for my email notifications to start working again!!
The love is always appreciated Betweenthelens, thank you:-)
