It is a US Army "unit coin" or challenge coin.
They are commonly presented by the Commander or Sergeant Major in recognition of achievement.
Your example came from the Sergeant Major in the Chief of Chaplains Office. The Chief of Chaplains is the supervisor officer for the Chaplains Corps and his Sergeant Major would be the highest ranked NCO in the Chaplains Corps.
I would think that the five sided coin is used because the Office is in the Pentagon.
