I continue to rummage through old photos. It's an endless job, but fun!
Check out these photos of my mother (1941 in Indiana) on the left and my mother-in-law (1943 in California) on the right. My best guess is that my mom's car is a chevy (I'm hoping someone can confirm or correct that) and my mother-in-law's car is a dodge. That was easy.....someone had the foresight to write on the back of the photo. ;)
yes , it's a very nice, brand new 1941 Chevy. love the pics. thanks for sharing
Thank you so much kerry! My guess was right. I knew I could count on someone from Collectors Weekly!
Did you notice ALL the bumper bars the old Chevy has on it?
Back in THE GOOD OLD DAYS cars told people how much money you had.
Thanks for sharing your pictures.
Thanks for your comment, nascar. I did notice the bumper bars and frankly I thought they were kind of gaudy. My folks didn't have a lot of money, though. My Dad landed a good job in the steel mills before the war and I'll bet he saved his money so he could purchase this car before he married my mom in '41. I believe this photo was taken on their honeymoon.
The bumper bars gaudy or not was the thing BACK IN THE GOOD OLD DAYS. I heard Paul Harvey say one day back in the 70's you would tell your grandkids BACK IN THE GOOD OLD DAYS we only paid 30 cent for a gallon of gas.
Great old photos. The one on the left is a 1940 Chevy.
Thank you, AzTom.
