These play to my love of tableware in décors also used for more commonly found vases. I can only conclude that the vases were also commonly bought as ornamental items, but either way definitely needed less washing and consequently had less risk of breakage.

Image three shows them with another set which came out of the same moulds. Only the applied feet and handles are different. Image four shows them with other stripey Welz pieces.

The jug is very familiar to me...I have one I bought way back in 1995 in my early collecting days...only mine has the longer "leaves" on the footed base, like the bowl.
Lovely to see so many variations together!

Thank you, IronLace. Don't you just love the way Welz got maximum use out of all their moulds by loads of different décors and then adding different rigaree, feet and handles. I suspect they understood marketing before the word had been invented!

Thank you, artfoot, for loving this and many other vases of mine!

How nice to see not only decorative but also useful things made by Welz!

I agree Ivonne. I'd love to find cups/saucers/plates but never have. I don't hold out much hope though, and certainly not in the UK.

I can understand why IornLace would love and buy similar ...Very English Victorian looking, hard pushed to say which I like better, they are both beautiful..:-)

I love these Peggy. I am really partial to "useful" hand made glass.

Yes inky, the glass interests of Ironlace and I overlap to quite an extent.

Me too Karen. The continentals used glass for tableware far more than the Brits ever did.

Thank you, Craig. I always enjoy other peoples' group shots.....they often highlight previously unnoticed similarities.
