Hello everyone!!!
This is an unusual post for me. But, a very good friend has been cleaning out his elderly parents attic and stumbled across these. The first is a vintage Yamaha trumpet and the second is a Carl Fischer saxophone. Both are complete with cases and mouthpieces. I'm hoping someone will be able to tell me something about these, such as how old these are. I'll be cleaning and conditioning the cases, but, should I polish these instruments or leave them as is?
He was going to throw these in the garbage. But thankfully, he called me yesterday and asked if I'd like to have them. Of course, I said yes!!! I played trumpet and coronet for six years during middle school and high school. But, it's been about 38 years since I've picked up a trumpet. So, perhaps I may start playing again.
He also found 3 stave puzzles and was going to throw those away as well. My sister salvaged those as stave puzzles tend to be high dollar items.
Thanks everyone for stopping in for a look and any help you can give me!!!

I played coronet through high school as well. Not very well....but had fun :)
As a classic jazz fan, I love these old instruments, make me nostalgic for Chet Baker, Dexter Gordon etc. You never know what gold is hiding away in the attic!
Very cool buckethead!! I wasn't too good myself, but I could read music. I figured that had to count for something:)
Thomas,
Thanks!! I just glad that he called me and not someone else. He's thrown away so many great items, but at least my sister and I have salvaged some of the items.
Thanks Jenni!! I have some old Louie Bellson music, which I love. But, I've always been a huge George Benson, Earl Klugh and David Sanborn fan. I saw Spyro Gyra many years ago and became a fan of theirs as well.
Thanks Ken!! I can play the trumpet, but I've never been successful at woodwind instruments (I always end up with nothing but a bunch of squeaking sounds). I think I'll try to learn the sax. I do believe I will polish them as well as clean the cases.
Thanks everyone so very much for the loves and comments,
