Nice and original real postcard photograph showing a young soldier of the Gordon Highlanders circa WWI or immediately before. The young soldier appears to be standing in a camp setting, as there is a tent directly behind him. He wears a scarlet full dress doublet with Gordon Highlander collar badges, buff leather belt, a kilt with a Gordon Highlanders sporran. He is carrying a "swagger" stick. He wears a nice leather trim Glengarry and you can make out the Gordon Highlanders cap badge. The young soldier is an other ranks.
On the back it clearly reads "POST CARD" meaning this is a post card photograph. Unfortunately it is not named or dated but circa or before WWI, probably slightly before as these full dress doublets were obviously not worn on campaign.
Overall a nice old photograph showing a young soldier of the Gordons in his uniform.
He is splendid. Nice Celtic ginger too by the look of him!
That is indeed quite the splendid uniform.
racer4four,
