I believe this silver bangle to be Russian, as you can see from the photo the enamel has been damaged. I did try to use nail vanish, from a distance it doesn’t look bad but from the photos I think I’m going to have to rethink and start again.
I’ve no idea what the E and the other mark are, I believe both marks to be Cyrillic for the makers mark. At the right side of the makers mark I think is the city mark for Moscow which was used between 1882-1886 but I’m not sure.
It is a very attractive bangle and I would like to find out more about the maker and the year it was made, to make a decision on what my next plan of action will be to restore.

    Many thanks for looking

It is KOSTROMA assay office. The mark was used 1880-1890.
The maker is not listed in Postnikova- Loseva book. There were hundreds of silversmiths working in villages in Kostroma region.
I suggest acrylic paint. When completely dry use the finest 1 micron white jewelers sandpaper to remove excess paint and polish it. Further polish with soft cloth.

Hi Ken, luckily it’s only nail vanish so will come off, as always thanks for your comment.

Wow your really on the ball with your silver marks, I’d never heard of KOSTROMA. Luckily I’ll be able to take off the vanish and I shall look around for similar coloured acrylic paint. I want to do the bangle justice as it’s in good condition for its age no damage to the silver and it’s not misshapened. Thanks so much for your help.

      Beautiful Russian bracelet!
Ah, Jean... You must not use a brush to apply the varnish!
The color match well indeed ;-)
Pour a little amount of it on a foil, then use a toothpick to apply tiny droplets in the cells ;-)

Hi kyra, it’s a work in process I’m doing better but I’m not going to get it how I want it. I also love the colours, to be honest I didn’t think it was going to be the real deal so many fakes out there. I was surprised when IVAN gave me the name of KOSTROMA, I hadn’t had much luck founding any info on the marks . IVAN has a wealth of information and I’m so pleased he shared it with Us on CW.
Thanks for your help it’s always much appreciated. This bracelet is definitely a keeper.
