This was todays Flea Market Find! It a beautiful Art Glass with metal base and applied décor Candy Compote, but who made it? I don't know! :^(
When I bought it, it had some sort of dark brown glue, or compression adhesive, that had gotten between the applied glass décor, and bowl, and was seeping from the 3 connected pieces, that are held together, with a bolt with button top in the bowl, through the leg glass part, and into the metal base, and held with a nut, and lock-nut, with a cover plate, on the bottom, and felt on that. I took it all apart and cleaned it all. Then reassembled it without glue. Much better now! :^D
The milky blue iridescent bowl is 5 1/2" across the top, and 2 1/2" high, connected to the metal base, with a 2" tall 2 1/2" at the top, and 2" where it connects to the metal base, the base is 3" across the bottom, and tapers to meet the leg in 1/2" thick silver metal, with a gold wash. The top applied décor is clear with scallop like fins, the bottom is the same, but pink glass, the same as the top rim on the bowl.
This is what IronLace, and welzebub, helped me to discover about this Compote Candy Dish, it's a Venetian Murano Salviati Production Glass With Metal Base Compote Candy Possible chandelier Parts Circa 1880
Thank you for looking! I hope someone knows something about this Art Glass Metal Footed Candy Dish! All comments and questions welcome! :^)
Thanks to IronLace, and welzebub, I'm going to mark this solved! :^)

Kevin, and Ken, thank you both for your comments! :^D I was so happy to find this beautiful Art Glass, and very surprised to find that I could take it apart, and clean it! I wish that I took some before pictures, but I didn't think that the brown goop could be cleaned from it, and am very happy with the result! :^)

It looks very Murano to me. And it also looks like it could have been part of something, like a chandelier, perhaps?
    6. billretirecoll billretirecoll, 7 years ago
Thanks much for your comment IronLace, when I first saw this I thought it was part of something else, but the base is definitely part of a finished piece! I'll check that Murano idea out though! :^)

The shape is that of a compote, unfortunately it has been twisted in appearance quite a bit by the internet, so you don't see many of the really beautiful ones on there.
    9. billretirecoll billretirecoll, 7 years ago
Thanks for the comment Phil! Yes it has been hard to find anything close, but maybe I'm lookin in all the wrong places! :^)

Nice find..... The top lip looks to be folded back down on itself. Is that correct?
    12. Efesgirl Efesgirl, 7 years ago
Well, will you look at that....!!!! Have you tried putting it under a blacklight, just to see how it looks?
    13. billretirecoll billretirecoll, 7 years ago
Thank you welzebub, yes it is, about 3/8" of the pink, or rose glass rolled, to make a 1/4" lip to the outside top of the bowl. :^)
    14. billretirecoll billretirecoll, 7 years ago
I know Bonnie, I'm very happy with it! :^D I was thinking about putting it under a black light, to check the color, but haven't yet, I will and see if I can photograph any color change! :^)

Thank you for looking, and giving some love too,

      freiheit
      and Bonnie,
      very nice to get! :^)

    15. billretirecoll billretirecoll, 7 years ago
Well, after looking at the Art Glass bowl, under a black light, I saw no color change in the glass. I thought it might, but no! :^)
    16. Mrstyndall Mrstyndall, 7 years ago
      Very nice find!
    17. welzebub welzebub, 7 years ago
The rolled lip like that, combined with the rigaree and colors would lean me towards the piece being Italian glass.... Murano or Venice.... Nice example. It has characteristics which are reminiscent of Salviati production.
    18. billretirecoll billretirecoll, 7 years ago
You're both right IronLace, and welzebub, I found a Salviati chandelier, on a Pinterest site that got the image from Ruby Lane, the parts look like the compote candy dish

      https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/332703491194284816

So whether it was made as a compote, or made into one with parts used to make a chandelier, it seems to be Venetian Glass, and probably Salviati production! :^)

Here's a link to my new post so you can compare the Compote Candy to the Chandelier :

      https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/243819-just-to-compair-the-murano-compote-candy?in=activity

      Hope this helps! :^)
    23. Moonhill Moonhill, 7 years ago
Part from a Murano Chandelier. Most Italian glass compotes are usually all glass including the base and do not come apart with a brass base..... but one never knows? I like the colors and shape.
    24. billretirecoll billretirecoll, 7 years ago
Thanks for the comment Moonhill! :^D This may have been a made up piece, to go with a chandelier, with possibly one, or more of them as a matched set, or made up from parts of a broken chandelier. As a stand alone Compote, Candy Dish, or Candle Stand, it's still a beautiful piece of Murano Art Glass! :^)

Thank you so much for the love Moonhill! :^)
