It is called a copper boiler. On farms they were used to scald dead chickens or poultry with boiling water so as to make the feathers easier to pull out !~
Really ? I plucked chickens with my grandparents but it was a big open pot .
The small stack on top has me stumped
We also used these copper boilers, yes really and most had a long oval lid but I ould see using that top to let out less steam to hold over the middle.

Lots of young city people here. That is part of a moonshine boiler for sure.
You never took a bath or scalded chickens in this. The top is missing but it is part of a still.
^^That's kinda what I was thinking fhrjr2...copper boilers similar to that were used for *lots* of things, but that 'chimney' just screams "special purpose usage"...
