This goose wing style broad / hewing axe weighs 3 1/2 lbs. with the original handle. The head measures 6 1/2" with a nice 6" bit. The poll is 3 3/8" x 1 1/2" and has the nail remover with a larger spike remover on the blade. The total length with the handle is 14 1/2" and there is the CP makers mark.
The seller bought this "well used" in 1970 and hewed all the logs for his cabin with this axe. He was told it was from Europe and designed to build log cabins.
We own "Out West Pickers" and buy and sell dozens of axes every year, but this one has me stumped (no pun intended). I'm thinking German or Black Smith made. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
