Hello everyone!!
Here is a set of Japanese made hares that I've had in my collection for several years. They're made to look like bronze, but are actually made of cast iron as bronze was hard to come by during the period that these were made, or so I'm told. So, they made them out of cast iron, which was plentiful, and painted them to look like bronze.
The standing hare measures slightly over 7" tall and the sitting hare measures just over 6" tall. Though these are not solid cast iron, they do have some heft to them.
Hope you enjoy them and thanks very much for stopping by!!!

These are terrific dark bronze hare doorstops Scott, beautiful and useful
I saw the hares and new they were yours before looking, I love the hares we have quite a few running around in the paddocks around us..:-)
Thanks Jenni!! They have a bit of paint loss, but I don't mind that.
Thanks Ken!! These were definitely made to last. Sort of hard to hurt cast iron:)
Thanks Penny!! We don't have any hares in Kentucky. But, we do have our share of cottontail rabbits. In the spring and summer it not unusual to see as many as 15 at a time in our back yard.
Nice nousagi!
Thank you Karen!! And, thanks to you, I've learned a new Japanese word:)
