    Hello again everyone!!
I really thought I had posted this a few years back, but evidently I had not. This is a folding mirror that was designed to be traveled with. It was made somewhere between the mid to late 1800's. It has an oak frame and beveled mirrors. The backside has very intricate detailed pressed tin panels. This mirror could be set on a dresser or hung on the wall. It's quite a heavy mirror (about 12 lbs) so I really can't imagine anyone actually travelling with it. Each of the three mirror panels measure 11 1/4" wide and 11 1/4" tall. I've seen quite few of these over the years and this is definitely one of the largest ones I've ever seen. Most are much smaller than this one.

Anyhow, Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy!!

    Scott

It *is* very pretty indeed, and how unique?!!

I suppose, back in an era when "the traveler" started with a huge wooden trunk weighing 50+lbs by itself, there must have been *completely different* priorities as to what to stuff into it...?? <lol>

      AnythingObscure,
Thanks so very much!! You're absolutely correct about the large trunk and the travel priorities back in the day. Nowadays, we have to be conservative when packing for a trip, especially if you traveling by air.

Hahaha you gonna laugh too. At the end of your post I thought it read "Thanks for hopping by". lol Love your profile pic too. This mirror is really awesome and hey, what's another 12lbs to someone that traveled with a steamer trunk??? I'll hop in again soon!

      Lol Sue!!!
That's so funny. Glad you like the mirror and you're right about traveling with the trunks. Hop on by anytime!!

Thank you Judy!! It's one of the largest tri-fold mirrors I've seen. Most are only 8" panels or 5" by 7" panels. Glad you enjoy seeing this old mirror.

Yep Phil, I'd say it did come in handy for someone. We're actually using this on top of a chest of drawers. Comes in quite handy for us.

Thank you Laura!! The tin panels are actually what caught my eye before I even had an opportunity to see the mirror itself.

Oh wow! Scott, what a beauty, you've done a great job of keeping this mirror looking so nice! B^D The frame looks like an old school slate board, but oak instead of pine, and then that pressed tin, and mirror, just WOW I love it, send it right over ! ! ! :^)
