PostCardCo…
(437 items)
I finally got this card I have been wanting but when I see it on lists it is expensive, so I settled for one in lesser condition. It must have been popular and kept. This hits home because ny grandmother told me that ladies get babies from the cabbage patch. As Gram grew veggies in the yard I said "Don't we want more babies We don' t have any cabbage ,do we"? So for a good long time, as far as I was concerned ...babies were found in a cabbage patch!
NOW, I know WHY the funny looking dolls of the 60s-70s were called "Cabbage Patch Kids"
Way back when this must have been a explanation to kids "Where did I come from"" AND HERE IS THE CARD TO PROVE IT CALLED "THE GARDEN OF LOVE"( the inspiration for the Cabbage Patch Doll!!)
I see a young farmer with a cane out in the patch as "protector"...... and to this place come a very old man and a young woman looking to pick a baby from the patch. I think her husband is too old to make her wish come true, so together they decide to visit the cabbage patch full of possibilities. My grammy was 100% Irish and later I wondered if it was one of her Irish fantasy tales that influenced my life so much. I think if I had remembered , I would have told my 2-daughters the same tale,Babies+cabbage patch .Voila
I absolutely adore this card!!
ARE THE CABBAGE PATCH KIDS DOLLS STILL COLLECTED?
