    Hello everyone!!
Here is my 1928 edition of The Adventures of Reddy Fox by Thornton. W. Burgess. Reddy Fox is just one of the many storybook characters created by Mr. Burgess. He was born in 1874 and died in 1965. In his 91 years he wrote more than 15,000 children's stories. I have quite a few of Thornton W. Burgess children's books in my collection. His most famous characters were Peter Cottontail, Reddy Fox, Little Joe Otter, Jimmy Skunk, Bobby Coon, Unc' Billy Possum and Old Mother West Wind among many , many others.

Thanks very much for stopping in!!!

    Scott

Reddy Fox.....a very appropriate name for a red fox :)
      Very Nice Set!!

That must be a first or very early edition book, quite a treasure. The fox statue is very handsome & dapper in his vest - Reddy appears to be a sneaky fox as per the book cover, he & the wolf appear to be on the prowl

I love this. I love Thornton Burgess's books as well as Cady's illustrations. Your Mr. Fox is quite dapper, too.

Thanks buckethead!!! I would totally agree.

Thanks Jenni!! The book was first published in 1913, so this would have probably been a 2nd printing. That's actually Granny Fox on the cover with Reddy Fox.

Thanks Laura!! Thornton W. Burgess's first wife died after only one year of marriage and left him to raise their son by himself. It's said that he began writing these bedtime stories to entertain his young son.

      Thanks T.!!
Perhaps that was Reddy Fox himself that you spotted:) It's a rare treat to spot a red fox. They sure are a rather bashful animal. Even a grey fox is a rare treat to see.
