I not only collect bears, I occasionally make them as well. The first photo is Natasha (after one of my favorite literary characters, Natasha Rostova). She is comprised of mohair and felt, embroidery thread and glass button eyes. She is jointed four ways and stuffed with fiber fill and steel pellets (for weight). The little one sitting with her is made from a wire armature covered with polymer clay, which was then baked and covered with mohair snippets. The second photo is of another bear made from mohair and felt, glass eyes and embroidery floss. He is jointed five ways, is stuffed with fiber fill and has a floppy quality about him.

I added the last bear today. He is Pasternak, made for a friend about five years ago. Mohair, felt, antique button eyes, embroidery floss (waxed nose), and stuffing + steel bearings.

Thanks for looking at my crafts!

Omg, they are so adorable and unique! May I suggest a name for the other bear if he doesn't have one yet? Pierre Bezukhov =) I think he looks like Pierre... And look at that precious baby bear...i'm totally melting here. Do you sell them on ebay or etsy?

Jenni, thank you so much for the lovely compliments.
Manikin, thank you very much. Much appreciated!
Thank you so much, Scott. I find it very relaxing, similar to looking for collectibles.
Thank you, buckethead. I so appreciate your kind comment.
Ken, thank you so much for your kind sentiments.
      Thank you, T!
Anna, I don't know why I didn't think of that name for my other guy before. I think Natasha and Pierre go very well together, as they did in that esteemed tome! Thank you so much for your enthusiastic compliments. I have not ever sold my bears, but I've made one for a friend and I've made a couple of bears for my son. I'm afraid that if I started making them to sell, the enjoyment would wane. I don't know. It might be something to contemplate.

Laura and Anna, I'm very sorry if I am not up to date on the CW rules, just wanted to protect you guys as my good friend was removed for offering something a few mos ago, it's an always changing thing here

Jenni, no apologies necessary. I understood what you were saying. Things can be vague, especially in an online environment where there is no person with whom to speak for clarity. Intentionality is everything and you had good intentions. Don't sweat it! xo

Nice to see you made these and am surprised and impressed that it was you. I used to see a lot of bears at the antique shows I sold my books at but did not know that some were crafting these, very impressed indeed !~

Thank you so much for your kind compliments, Phil. I really appreciate them. The best bear I made was for a friend. He turned out the best as far as sewing (I hand sew and don't use a machine.) and cotter pin placement. Everything went swimmingly. I am adding two photos showing him. He was stuffed with fiber fill and weighted with steel bearings. Antique button eyes, mohair, embroidery floss, felt, and a vintage charm around his neck. I named him Pasternak. (I love the Russian writers.)

PS For those curious, I also wax the nose to give it a sheen.
