I am getting pictures of all my granddads decanters. They came in such unique shapes. He was a member of so many bottle clubs back in the 1970s. He collected every one he could get his hands on before he died. I am putting together a scrapbook of them all for my mom.
These are great!
Thanks Newfld! This is just a piece of his 400 bottle collect that I have to sort thur, put on ebay or donate. Its a daunting task! I wish I could find room to keep some but live in a small house with no extra room.
They are such fun and so well designed and made! I understand it would be tiring and even a bit of a load having to sort through them, so I hope you are really enjoying each one as a great object!
The New Hampshire, Old Man of the Mountain should have increased value because the entire granite face came tumbling down a few years ago. Nice collection he had.
racer4four - I am making my mom a scrapbook of all the stuff of his that we are selling/donating. The problem is he collected EVERYTHING he could get his hands on but it is interesting. I would love to be able to keep more of his collection but I would need a much bigger house. 900 square feet does not cut for antiques!
fhrjr2 - I had no idea that the face fell off! I guess I need to get out more. None of them are really worth anything. Most of these bottles sell under $20 so we have been donating them. Our donation center is full now and they are not accepting anymore of the decanters.
Is this one marked Ezra Brooks on the bottom?
fhrjr2 - it is marked Ezra Brooks on the bottom
Those are selling online from $90 to $139. After the Old Man tumbled items with his image went way up in price. Heck even a roll of tokens went from $5 to $20, Zippo with his image went well over $200. It just went crazy price wise when he fell.
fhrjr2 - They are listed that high but not selling. The last time one sold was for 21.50 I believe.
