Ship

This ship was left to me by an old friend and I have no idea where he might have gotten it. I had another friend make the base to set it on because for years it leaned against the wall. A few years ago a neighbor's father built me the case. I am curious about it's possible origin or even the type of ship that it is. Thanks!
