Here's a little rainbow for a rainbow - filled day...a Victorian - inspired tumbler made in Murano in the 1960s, when a lot of similar reproduction pieces were made. It measures 9.2 cm tall, 6.6 across the top rim, & 6 cm across the base. It is made from three layers of cased glass - clear over stripes in pink, blue, & yellow, with a white interior. There is a diamond air trap pattern, the diamonds being somewhat elongated as is typical in reproductions of this type of glass. Another pointer is the fact that the rainbow colours are distinct from each other in bands, whereas original Victorian pieces display a blended appearance.
Marked on the base with the original sticker.

Such an interesting piece IronLace. I didn't know that Murano glass makers made revival pieces.

Many thanks, racer...yes, in the 60s & 70s a lot of repro Victorian art glass was made in Murano to cash in on the popularity of it as a collectable. Victorian glass underwent a big revival of interest in the 60s, which was when a number of major reference books on the subject were published.
Apparently dealers in the USA commissioned manufacturers in Murano to reproduce air trap satin glass, Burmese, pieces with applied decoration, epergnes (all the high value types of Victorian art glass).
You see a lot of it getting sold now as genuine Victorian glass, but if you know the topic, the differences are easy to spot. That's not to say that the very talented folks in Murano didn't make some fantastic pieces in this style. I have a repro epergne made in millefiori canes with a satin finish which is a tour de force of glassmaking.

Nice, I love tumblers. Is the lip rounded or ground flat, looks rounded.

Thanks rockbat, yes it is rounded - fire polished. I also like tumblers & have a few others. Often an affordable way to obtain rare types of art glass, too.

Striking and subtle at the same time! I appreciated the wealth of information too.
