Would anyone know anything on this frame? I am not sure if it is iron or patinated brass. And what does the 9196 stamp mean? Thanks!

You are not the only one looking for answers:

If you want to know if your frame is iron or brass use a magnet.

Thank you mp.kunst. I have determined it is iron after performing with the magnet test. And thank you for sending that ebay listing! I have have a message into him about the marking and will post if I get an answer.

It seems the marking doesn't have a real meaning. Just a makers mark of some type.

The mark is probably a forge number. Forge numbers were also used as part or item numbers by some places.
