I use the word "flagman's" (current term would be "flagger" or something generic) because this sign most certainly came from the era before any such politically-correctedness was actually thought of, much less applied to highway signage... ;-)
I don't really know exactly how old it is, perhaps 1940's-ish (wartime?) due to it being made of masonite/pressboard instead of any kind of metal. The sign itself is about 18" across, and the whole thing stands about 5-1/2' tall on its wooden post/leg. It was found at an estate sale several years ago and has remained one of the favorites of my 'highway sign' collection ever since! :-)
Those are basically my two speeds nowadays...slow or stop :)
<LOLOL> to buckethead -- I hear 'ya, my friend! :-) :-) I actually have a 2nd (newer, aluminum) one of these too, which lives leaning in the corner near my bench at work...every so often getting plucked up and planted in the middle of somebody else's conversations when things seem to be getting to 'ambitious'...? <giggle>
THANKS also to fortapache, TassieDevil, purvis, iggy, racer4four, and officialfuel for sharing the <love>s!! :-) :-) :-)
