Oh, I just LOVE this book, a 1928 edition of Candy Land! No one did books like the McLoughlin Brothers and Hildegard Lupprian. The illustrations as well as the text are just unparalleled when it comes to a children's book. One of my favorite passages in the text:

She knew all the birds, animals, insects and flowers very well, real personally you know. They told her all their troubles and she told them all hers for one has to have somebody to tell one's troubles to, you see. It is quite necessary.

I love this Laura!! This is right up my alley of collecting. I must say, I've always heard of the board game Candy Land, but never knew a book existed by the same name.

Thanks so much for the love, Roy, buckethead, Woman34, SpiritBear, and Scott. Scott, did you know I looked up the history of Candy Land (the board game), and it was invented in the 1940s by Eleanor Abbott, who had polio and wanted to create a pastime for those recovering from the disease? I wonder if she was influenced by this book, perhaps?
