I went to an estate sale recently and bought several baggies of jewelry. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that this brooch was missing two stones when I bought it. Does anyone know how old this might be?? I have looked for some replacement stones but it might be a bit harder to get perfect matches and sizes. Any ideas?
The colors are so bright and springlike!
I buy broken pieces for next to nothing and keep them for replacing stones on nicer pieces. It is still hard to find a match. Good luck:)
Between the lens and freheit, thanks for the comments. I hope I can find replacements at some point :)
MsCrystal-if you find it, please let me know. Do you have any idea of this brooch’s age?
I found a stone setter from ebay and kept her on file from my country. She finally started to replace some of my missing stones and does a fine job. Try to find someone who can actually replace prong set stones intead of just gluing. I also try to buy pieces that they have not been cleaned as that can damage the backing of the stones. It looks sometime in the 50's I would think. Beautiful to see the large stones.
Ken, thank you!
Valentino, thanks for the comment. At least that option is out there. Did the pieces you had match up well? It seems like it would be kind of hard to match exactly without sending the brooch in.
Phil, thanks for your comment. Hopefully I will be able to find some replacements, as I really like this brooch. I need to look through what I have and see if by chance I might find a match.
Valentino, thanks for the reply. I looked on their website. i didn't see any dark purple ones like I need up there. I think I'm going to look for a while, and if I can't find any, maybe I'll contact him. Yeah, finding a bag of rhinestones would be nice :)
Ken, did you find the replacements you needed and do you have to send the pieces in?
Hi Mrstyndall,

There are many sites on eBay, etsy etc that sell every colour and size you could ever want to replace stones that are lost.
I don't know where you live, but a quick scan of search results throws up many, many, places (sites) where you can buy rhinestone, crystal stones - even Walmart, and Amazon sells them. Do you have a good craft store where live?
Of course you would need the measurement, etc. The link I sent you has Swarovski, Czech, German etc. stones.
All the very best,
Gillian
Hi again,
I think you should also be cognizant of the sellers 'feedback scores' on eBay. Most of these sellers are in China - don't let that put off though - as I say check out "good" craft stores, Wallyworld, Amazon and more! (I wouldn't buy anything from a seller that a less than 99.5% - 99% feedback score. Oh - I forgot - do check out Etsy, they have a very good reputation overall.
Gillian, yes, i had actually checked out eBay this morning. I will continue to search around. I have tried a couple craft stores but they did not have many marquis shaped stones. Online will probably be the way to go.
That is so pretty! I love the various colors. I hope you find your replacements, although I would be tempted to wear it "as is"!
Andreamw, thanks for the comment :)
If your brooch is vintage, you are going to want vintage stones, so look for that in the description. The dealer I've worked with for replacement stones is Heavenly Jewels, she's on eBay, sells vintage stones, and vintage Swarovski, at a very good price, send her an email with your questions, tell her what you need, and she will reply very promptly. I've heard good things about Mr. Stones, check their inventory and if they have what you need, order and set the stones yourself or take to your local jewelry store, they will do the setting for a nominal fee on costume pieces. Good luck, beautiful brooch!
Katherine, thanks so much! I just found and ordered some. Anxious to receive and see how they look! Thanks so much for the help
Welcome! Be sure and post the results. :)
Updated pic with replacements! The purple color worked pretty good, the other champagne colored ones were all replaced with a similar color.
Ken, thank you! Yes, I put the stones in myself :)
Foseatme, thanks so much!
Merry Christmas MrsT and every happiness in the New Year
