Vidrio Products Corporation produced "agate" or "slag" glass products in Cicero, Illinois from 1926 through 1953. Your item is an ashtray - the circular indentation held an electric cigarette lighter encased in matching glass.

A picture of a complete lighter/ashtray set can be seen here - https://www.bigashtray.com/product/antique-agate-glass-ashtray-and-electric-lighter/
You may notice - identical items were made by more than one company.

      Neat links - thanks.
How do you feel about having a "relic" to look after Dave?
