Found this bottle of Bourbon under the floor boards' I am told if it's not cloudy, it's good. expecting an event with my kid to be cause to pull the cork. this bottle was found laying on its side and i keep it stored on the side. (it has a cork.)

      Hello,

This is a nice bottle and a famous brand, although not very well known today. Can you make out either the made or bottled dates on the tax strip? This appears to be a pre-prohibition bottling, meaning it was bottled prior to 1920. As such it likely has significant value to collectors. Unlike wine, bottles of spirits should not be stored horizontally, as long-term exposure to high-proof alcohol can eat away at the cork and taint the whiskey. So the fact that this has been stored on its side for so long is not ideal and might possibly mean that the whiskey is tainted but at least it hasn't leaked or evaporated significantly. I would recommend turning the bottle right side up and storing it that way from now on. Is the whiskey clear when held to the light? If you'd like further info please feel free to reach out: ewitz@comcast.net. Cheers, -Eric
