. This is the only card I have in this type graphic, I think it is striking, and I love the neat hand-coloring work (so well done) Odd subject for a charming art-card. A LOVERS SPAT!!Got an artist name from behindthelens (Thanks Much!!)L( Art by Manni Grosze). I looked into it and there are many he did in this type.Maybe he is Austrian??
Man giving gal a scolding and she has a" put-out" posture. Funny.
I believe the artist is Manni Grosze
Great info. Do you know what era he was known to do art in? And maybe if he was from Europe? Thanks so very much. Do you collect art? I do, on sheet music and postcards.
It's romantic looking except for the possible argument, maybe he's holding one finger up to say "wait for me"
Maybe, but her upturned nose tells me he's out of luck!
I've seen them attributed to the 1910s-1920s.
It's difficult to find much of anything about him, but there is one of his postcards on cardcow.com, and it's published by the German publisher Paul Fink. Do a search on auction sites to find more. Sometimes, his full name is written out and other times it's just an "MG."
You'd asked if I collect art. I buy what I like, and some are postcards and other ephemera, sometimes sheet music. I love your collection! I have sold postcards in my shop so I've done a bit of research concerning antique and vintage cards. Metro postcard is a great site, and I'm surprised Manni Grosz isn't listed on there.
Thanks for the lead. I can do some research tomorrow afternoon. If I find some more info, I'll post it.
I look forward to information on this! I just love the colors and the silhouettes. Beautiful.
We collect the same things. I have a turn-of-century and earlier button collection.
I'll try to put some on, but they are hard to photograph with my old camera. I'll ask my daughter to do some for me.
I also love that card and now that I know where to find others can enjoy more! Thanks,--Lois (going off computer till tomorrow, more later)
love this card!
I look forward to seeing your button collection, Lois. I will keep an eye out for MG postcards and let you know if I find any. The consignment shop that I frequent has lots of antique and vintage postcards coming in frequently.
