I found this rebuilt washing machine motor at a yard sale. It starts on the second kick and runs on regular gas with a shot of two stroke oil mixed in. I believe its from the late 30s to early 40s. It was mounted on a frame under the washing tub and had to be used outside.
This is great!! Many years ago, my father found one of these partially buried in the ground. He dug it out, cleaned it up and got it operating. But, his didn't look this awesome.
Thanks for looking. The guy I bought it from was a paraplegic. He replaced the bearings and got it running, I just spray painted it the wrong color and put the ebay decal on it.
Beautiful! The only thing i would add, would be to paint the Maytag lettering with white paint.
Great find Ron... this is a model 72 long base model.
It's interesting that the single cylinder Maytag engine were actually a hit and miss engine, while the two cylinder model 92 was a fhrottle governed engine.
There is an attachment to the exhaust port and a flex hose that attached to the engine so it could be used in the kitchen or enclosed porch. A steel sleeve was available to slip over the metal exhaust hose to prevent the hot exhaust hose from burning the door sill. Looks Cool!
Thank you for looking and the info on my motor.
Very cool motor!
