I bought this small vase because I liked it and at that point I was guessing it was Kralik. Now I'm not sure. I love rosebowls, a lot of mine are Kralik and moulded. Except for two it's impossible to see/find the 'seams', or more correctly the point at which the edges of the parts of the mould come together. So with this vase I now have three where the "seams" are visible. In each case the 'seams' run along a convex curve. See them in image four......the seam is centre front in each.
Are these merely less well finished Kralik or not Kralik at all?
This one at least is indeed Kralik, imperfections notwithstanding!
Height 10 cm./4 inches

wonderburg first class peggy
Thank you so much, MALKEY .....a click here and there would suffice :)
It is so pretty Peggy. Do you think it would have had a collar?
Hi Karen, At first I did think it was a rose bowl missing its frog/collar. Now I doubt that. It's been suggested that the curved neck is due to a bad mould..... but I'm not convinced. The curve is nicely done and making a vertical neck would have been easier. Unless anyone could tell me how a mould shaped to produce a straight neck to suit a frog could turn out curved as above.
Update Karen, It turns out it would have had a frog, and an atypical but beautiful one at that! Thank you Mac
Love its Beautiful colours and subtle shape. I'd have thought it didn't have a collar too, how surprising to find it did.
Glad someone looked at it and thought the same as me !!!
