Just came across 3 of these, by the Zen, Scherzer and Company. I believe They are hand painted, and I think they are salad plates. They are 7 1/2 across in diameter. Made between 1880 and 1918. Simply fell in love with them.
Nice to have three matching.
I see that mark on pieces after 1900 and into the '10s.
I would say they were decals with what looks like enamel embellishments by hand.
If you use them, be careful. The enamel can break right off from a fork or knife.
