I know and love my Sargent router plane, but the thing in front of it is a mystery to me. It was with the plane in a generic box when I bought it, but I don't know if they are related. The object is stamped "patent applied for". Anybody have a clue?
Love your router plane! My Stanley doesn't have the extra mount on the blade clamp. Do you know what that is used for? The other item is a cue stick tip clamp. Could not find another with the hook on the end.

Perhaps it's to hang up the cue till the glue dries?
Horseradishman1, I have to agree with you that what I have is a cue stick clamp. I never, in a million years, would have guessed that! Now that I know that, I can see that the router blade clamp works well with the cue stick device, which is why they were together, I guess. I bought them all at an estate sale.
So, Sargent sold this router (#62) with just the one blade clamp and no adjusting screw from 1907 to 1910 (type 1). Between 1911 and 1941, the type 2 had the adjusting screw and this extra clamp and accompanying throat closing attachment along with a regular blade clamp. It came with a 1/4 inch and 1/2 in blade as well. I am happy to have them all and have made use of them. Try this link if you would like to see it. http://www.sargent-planes.com/sargent-no-62-router-plane/
Thanks for the good info! I've been wondering about that thing for years.
Bobby725. Saw your comment just after posting my first response. There was no ring, but as I said, the router clamp would work. You would have to use something to shield the router clamp screw from damaging the cue stick. I tried it with a dowel rod and figured that out. Do you own, or have you seen a clamp like mine? I am curious about it's age.
FWIW, I did find a link to this object with its clamps. Very cool cast iron with leather tabs and I really wish I had those clamps! Can't post the pic, but you can scroll down to see them. I hope I am not violating rules about sales sites.

Thanks for the info on the router plane and link ErieBirds. I can see how the blade clamp would work for both tools. Very interesting! Did the link work for the clamp I posted?
Hello, I have a few of the clamps, but was missing the rings. I found an online seller that sold a plastic clamp, with aluminum rings. They were cheap enough, so I bought them just to get the rings. Regards, Lou
