I found this, what I believe, is a beautiful Roycroft vase, last year at an estate sale in the basement among a number of tossed-aside items. I didn't know what it was, but, it intrigued me. It was heavy, had an art deco/nouveau design, and, at the time I found it, a mark on the bottom I didn't recognize. It also had an interesting hammered pattern that seemed done by hand. I just really didn't know what it was. I wondered whether it was Asian/East Asian. And, it was/is in pretty scratched up/scuffed up condition. Also, while the photos show the copper, in real life, it almost looks like rust. So, I've had my doubts. But, for less than $3.00, I couldn't pass up this mystery. I had had some familiarity with Roycroft, just not enough to say the mark was Roycroft. So, for about a year, I could not pinpoint the maker of this vase. This changed a couple days ago when a coworker, a Roycroft lover, showed me some examples and the makers mark. And, here I am!

I do think this is an authentic Roycroft copper with brass overlay vase and green pigmentation on the flower trim design. This site shows the same vase and the dating of the mark. http://www.roycroftcopper.com/vases2.htm

It is 5 inches tall by almost 2 and 1/2 inches wide.

I'm sure the value has been greatly decreased due to all the scratches and scuffs. I still think it's beautiful.

    What do you think?
