This 2 1-4" textured goldtone squirrel brooch by Marcel Boucher has interesting touches, with white rhinestones throughout the curvy design, a diecut tail, black eye & faux pearl "nut". The 4" emerald green squirrel posing as if holding a nut is from Kanawha Glass of WV, item #3 in the 1976 catalog
Great pear, when I first saw the large green on the small square I thought it was Mr. Crabs daughter whale on spong bob ! The pearl is a beautiful touch !~
Typo - pair
These are both wonderful!!!! But, I'm especially loving your little squirrel brooch.
LOL Phil. That is hysterical. I immediately saw Sandy Cheeks. ;)
Jenni, these are very beautiful. I've not heard of Boucher or Kanawha Glass, and I am going to look them up as I am very much interested in their history. I love how you've photographed these pieces as well. The brooch looks to be very well made, and the detail is just superb.
Are you experiencing any "melt?" We still have blankets of snow, and the cold is unbelievable. I just cannot believe it's mid-March. Are you ready for next week's Nor'easter? :(
I agree with Scott here Jenni! I think I have mentioned before how much I love squirrels! Just adorable!:-)
Thank you for super nice & funny comment Phil, except for Sponge Bob himself I'm not too familiar w. the show (no kids, stepdaughter & kids live out of state) but you guys seem to be in agreement so I'm laughing too :) And of course I knew that was a typo, I use droids and they are CONSTANTLY choosing other words for me if I don't proof, which I hate to do
I'm so happy you love my squirrels Scott, you're the animal expert & your opinion means alot
Laura, thank you so much for the true interest, it's great here on CW to learn about new (to us) things, isn't it? Marcel Boucher was a French costume jewelry designer, I believe he was big in the 50s-70s, and Kanawha Glass were glassblowers out of Dunbar WV who competed with other co's like Viking & Pilgrim making glass animals from the 60s-80s mainly then went out of biz (those co's mainly did glass tableware for the most part)
The Squirrel is is just adorable. Absolutely love it.
Judy you always say such nice things, I'm really glad you love squirrels, I think we did discuss it before as I've posted a couple other glass ones - in real life they kinda scare me, people feed them so sometimes they run toward you & I'm afraid of rabies lol
Thanks everyone for the super kind loves

Melanie very glad you enjoyed this, thanx for the kind compliment
Laura I forgot to mention about the snow, ours started off heavy with high winds (fortunately no power loss, just a brief glitch), then the sun came out in late afternoon & it stopped, now it's melting quickly as it was a very wet snow typical for March. I hate to think about it but yes we're supposed to get the noreaster Tues here as well, have plenty of ice melt left & hope yours will be mild, here's hoping!
Jenni, thank you so much for the information on these two companies/artisans. I do find it very interesting, and it's really wonderful how we can grow our knowledge base just by learning about things others collect!
I am glad the snow is melting quickly. Sun came out here as well so I'm hoping most of this will go before the next big one. I actually heard this morning that we may get more rain this time around, at least in our area. Hoping this is true for you as well!
Appreciate the kind words Laura, I really hope we both get spared next wk (I heard rain too, fingers crossed) & we can put those winter boots away real soon!
Yes isn't he a good color for St Patrick's, thank you Thomas for the kind comment
Appreciate the love Mary & Thomas, thank you
I'm loving your glass/brooch combos Jenni.
Awesome green glass squirrel, and the pearl acorn is such a good design!
Phil made me laugh, Sandy Cheeks!!
Thomas, thank you & begorra may the saints be with ya, enjoy St Pat's
So glad you enjoy my combos Karen, I try not to do them all the time but sometimes the glass needs a little "help", see this squirrel's shape is not so defined if everyone sees a Sponge Bob character in him lol! BTW I had a great radio/CD/mini boombox in the shape of Sponge Bob for yrs, it played great
