Greetings. This is a lovely and large bowl that was given to my parents as a wedding gift in 1952. I know nothing about it, although my Mother used to refer to it as "Venetian." The red glass (?) is a beautiful deep ruby color, and the other detailing is gold. I have never seen anything like it, despite searching all over the internet. If you know its origin, or can otherwise tell me anything about it, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

      Hi from Sydney, Australia!
I've been looking at this bowl for a couple of days now. I think it's Bohemian.
Most would say that it is Moser. I can suggest a couple of alternatives: Haida is one and the other is Josephinenhütte. I think Josephinenhütte supplied Moser.
The quality of the cutting is extremely good. You might describe it as being: Bohemian overlay, cased ruby glass bowl with hand cut & gilt design, c. 1900-1920. Some names to play with are Siegfried Haertel (or Härtel) and Alexander
      Pfohl.

Hi from California. Thank you, Vetraio50! I have to admit to being completely naive about these things. With the information you provided, I am going crazy on Google looking at images to see if anything looks similar in style. So far, I have seen one item, although it is older than what you have surmised mine is. If you're interested, take at look at item number 7123 here: http://www.great-glass.co.uk/library/lib1ba.htm.

Hi again. I think I have found a similar example of the bowl shape. It is slightly different in that it is not cased with opaline, but is ruby cut:

The lady in this album describes it as "Moser bowl". Yours is more involved with additional cutting at the rim. Look too at the "Moser jewelled and gilt intaglio bowl" just before it for similar floral decoration. It could well be pushed a few years back to the 1880's.
Another idea is to search "Pfohl Moser" or "Pfohl Josephinenhütte".
Yet another is to have a look at some German dealers/auction house sites for "Böhmische glas". Try:Quittenbaum/Auktionhaus Bergmann. Using some German can get you different results and a different perspective on your search.
