To continue my current theme of Victorian glass with painted decoration, here is a pretty jug which I found in an op shop this time 18 years ago. It is made from clear glass with a slightly iridised, satin finish (except for the handle which remains glossy). The jug measures 15.5 cm tall, 8 cm across the top rim, & 7.5 cm across the base, which has a rough, snapped pontil mark. The painted decoration is not of the highest standard, but nonetheless charming in its own way. A white swan glides along on a lake with a backdrop of mauve mountains, all surrounded by a garland of greenery.
Most likely of Bohemian origin.
The swan scene is absolutely lovely
Many thanks, Newfld!
I think it is sweet. I like seeing all the other items you have. Someday, I will get one of those cell phones, and take pictures of my stuff. I go to Goodwill every day after work. Thanks for showing.
Thanks so much, rockbat, & I look forward to seeing photos of your collection.
