Thiningthe…
(1 item)
Just bought this Vaseline uranium covered dish and looks arts and crafts or deco. Neat item and love it. Never have I seen one like it.
Unknown maker, signed with block A on inside of lid. Can anyone identify? Just bought this yesterday in thrift store and cannot find maker:-(
It is 7.5’’in diameter and 5 ‘’ tall. There are no marks on base. But has block A on inside of lid, which is in photos.
Looks hand painted with cherries or ?. Paint is quite thick so not sure if it is original or not.
Any info would be appreciated. Usually I can identify but I have never seen this A mark. This is not Anchor Hocking mark, I don’t think.
It looks Czech/Bohemian to me. There's a fair few knowledegable Czech glass enthusiasts on CW who should be able to work out the exact maker.
The colour of it is wonderful & the painted decoration is quite elegant.
It's USA made Tiffin Glass.
The type of painted enamel looks more American than Bohemian to my eye. I'm sure one of the American glass experts knows this mark A. Very lovely Art Deco glass dish. :-)
Gorgeous!
hard to tell with the angle of the photos but might be Tiffin #179 Nasturtium
Apologies for my ignorance of American glass -we don't have much of it in Australia so it's largely outside of my experience...
TallCakes did Tiffin use this capital A mark? I know several other USA glass companies did use them, such as Northwood.
not sure about that "A" mark. I was going on the shape of the lid and finial detail. Need to see the shape profile to tell is it may be #179.
Thanks TallCakes, I have one emerald green satin Tiffin salad bowl with the painted daisy pattern that was in the Butler Brothers wholesale catalog in 32 I think. The set had the usual pieces and a small lidded candy dish. This one is quite wide. Are you in a Facebook glass group? We may already know each other there. :-)
not on FB... maybe OP can post another image showing the side profile...
