Hello, O Wise Ones. A local thrift shop finally coughed up a decent bit of jewelry: I paid 1 Euro for this 80 cm long box chain, 835 silver, which was mistakenly put with the crap jewelry.. There is the Dutch import mark of ZII. The other two marks are the problem. I recognize the mark on the left but cannot remember it's purpose. I have not a clue about the mark opposite it. I gather it's a maker mark, but one I've never seen before today. I had initially thought Russian but don't think that anymore.
If anyone has a clue, that would be wonderful!
Thanks for looking
Bonnie
Wow! Gorgeous thick silver chain!
Nothing gets past the staff of our local thrift store - only one! I swear they stand by the door with a loupe up to their eye. Congratulations on finding this chain, for such an incredibly low price.
I can't help with the marks I'm afraid. I think your first photo is enlarged? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see a box chain, rather a Belcher chain. What do you think?
Gillian - I think it's a box chain as the links are squared.
Nice find as usual Bonnie! I have to laugh because I know what Gillian is saying!!! Almost all of the thrifts have caught on, which is ok but come on, when they have a fake LV Wallet behind the counter for $200.00, it's a bit much. Or Louboutin heels for $700.00??? And while they are so busy taking care of that end, they do often miss on some goods I get to catch! Luckily.
