These are some of my enameled buttons and some of my buttons featuring birds. One of my favorites is Leda and the Swan, the second button in the first row of the last photo. Another favorite is the second button in the first row of the third photo. I bought this button to remind me of a favorite button I'd lost. I've not been able to find another like the button that was lost, but this is a very close second in terms of beauty.

I'm so glad you also collect bird antique buttons, as this animal is truly my favorite (former talking parakeet owner, and I do mean both of us lol). I think your Leda & the Swan is gorgeous, also can make out a pelican, eagle, owl, robin - so many pretties, super post

These are all so wonderful!! I'd have a difficult time choosing a favorite. They're all wonderful in my opinion.

Mary, I am so happy you've so enjoyed these bird buttons. Isn't it funny what brings people together- the bird buttons led you and Jenni to discover you both had budgies! Thank you for the love! Oh, and the owl is one of my favorites as well. I love moon buttons and you can see the crescent moon hugging the side of the button here.

You're so right Laura, it's great to find out that Mary also loved budgies/keets, I had three male aqua & white birds, one at a time, and read a lot about how to get them to talk, only the male of the species will learn if you keep him solo - more than one keet will just chirp birdie talk together & not learn. Our first bird lived to be 12 (like 100 in people yrs), and amazed us with phrases like "you're very handsome" and "get over here!", he could say over 50 words. Just a tiny pet, you think they're just for kids, but my husband & I miss our Cookie Boy very much :(

Oh Jenni, I am sure you miss Cookie Boy, and I don't believe birds, especially small species like budgies, are just for kids. In fact, I believe they're better suited for adults. Do you have birds now?
PS I feel I should qualify that last statement about birds being better suited for adults. I think the behavioral nuances and specific needs of these intelligent creatures are sometimes (italics, please) lost on some younger people but not all, by any means. People think if it's in a cage or tank, it's an appropriate pet for a youngster, but this is isn't always the case.
Hi Laura, no we don't have parakeets anymore, our last one had just passed right before Hurricane Sandy, and we lost power over 2 wks in the freezing cold, a little bird would never have survived it so we decided, no more. I agree kids don't really appreciate parakeets for all their potential, but as long as they are a small animal (hamsters etc) parents will buy them, less work than walking the dog etc
It was a blessing that your last parakeet passed before having to endure two weeks of freezing cold, but I'm sure it was no comfort since it was a huge loss nonetheless- before as well as after the storm. I am sorry you then had to get through Sandy. What an awful time for you all.
Laura you're such a kind person, thank you so much for your sweet words. It really was a blessing the bird passed, we said that at the time, all the hotels & other lodging were totally booked during Sandy (rightfully so, with visiting out of state linemen working on our messed up power grids), we learned from an old lady neighbor to wear our "long johns" to keep warm lol! Listen, you live & learn, and I found a new hobby afterward with my animal glass & trinkets, it's very rewarding thanks to great people like yourself:)
