Tiny Lacquerware Bowl

This is tiny - only 2.5 inches wide and one inch high. I assume it's Japanese. Beautiful gold background to some hand-painted cherry blossoms inside and red outside. I thought it was plastic last night, but now i am pretty sure that it is laquer on wood or papier mache.
